On March 18, 2019, during a working visit to Lausanne, Switzerland, Director General of Russian Anti-Doping Agency «RUSADA», Yuri Ganus, held meetings with the leadership of international sports federations and General Director of International Testing Agency (ITA).
The working day of RUSADA Director General Yuri Ganus began with a meeting with Tom Virgets, Executive Director of International Boxing Association (AIBA), and Wan Ching Cho, Associate Partner and Operations Manager of AIBA. During the meeting, a wide range of issues on joint cooperation was discussed and a work plan in Russia was defined.
Next, RUSADA Director General met with Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of International Rowing Federation (FISA). The meeting began with a discussion of the current state of affairs at FISA and RUSADA, the participants of the meeting mostly focused on further development of joint activities. FISA representatives noted the growing confidence in RUSADA from international sports bodies and respect for RUSADA’s proactive position on active cooperation with international sports federations.
The meeting with the leadership of International Fencing Federation (IFF) resulted in a joint understanding regarding interactions between RUSADA and IFF. RUSADA Director General Yuri Ganus expressed his willingness to support IFF in-competition and out-of-competition plan in Russia by RUSADA. The meeting was attended by IFF Administrative Director Elena Murdaka and IFF Sports Technologies Administrative Manager Natalia Bodrova.
The meeting of Yuri Ganus with the International Baseball and Softball Federation (WBSC) Anti-Doping Direction Head Viktor Isola identified the prospects for anti-doping cooperation between RUSADA and WBSC in terms of the development of this new sport in Russia.
At the meeting with International Sambo Federation (FIAS) Office in Lausanne Director General Michal Buchel parties discussed the plan of cooperation between RUSADA and FIAS in Russia. Michal Bukhel noted the growing confidence in the new RUSADA team and confirmed his intention to expand cooperation between FIAS and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency.
At the meeting with the International Archery Federation Secretary General Tom Dilen, the parties confirmed their interest in joint work in Russia.
The working day of RUSADA Director General Yuri Ganus ended with a visit to the International Testing Agency (ITA) office, where he met with the ITA Director General Benjamin Cohen. Benjamin Cohen introduced the ITA team to Yuri Ganus. The parties discussed the issues of a comprehensive strategic agreement between RUSADA and ITA, as well as issues related to the problems of private testing organizations operating in Russia.
We remind that on March 6, 2019 in the RUSADA office was held a meeting between ITA Director General Benjamin Cohen and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency top management, where parties discussed cooperation in organizing testing, training personnel for doping control, education, investigations, etc.
On March, 19 RUSADA Director General Yuri Ganus continues his visit to Lausanne with working meetings with international sports and anti-doping organizations of the world.
