The RUSADA Round Table on the topic of "Science and Practice of Anti-Doping Support for Sports" was held as part of the annual International Symposium on Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Experts in the field of sports medicine, anti-doping representatives from sports organizations, and members of the scientific community attended the event.
Veronika Loginova, General Director of RUSADA, addressed the audience about the discovery of three cases of anti-doping rule violations committed by sports doctors in 2024. She stated, "At this time, the results of these cases are being processed, and we are unable to disclose any further details. However, the most significant aspect of this unfortunate incident is that sports doctors prescribed substances prohibited for use in sports to athletes. This should never happen."
At the same time, Victoria Badtieva, the head of the TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) Committee, noted the increase in requests for TUEs received by RUSADA (Russian Anti-Doping Agency) in 2024. She said that since the beginning of the year, they have received 135 requests, which is more than the total number of requests received in 2023, which was 117.
Following the report by Nikolai Kondakov, head of the science department at RUSADA, participants in the roundtable discussion focused on the risks associated with the use of dietary supplements in sports. To learn more about this important issue, you can attend an online meeting titled "Dietary supplements: the taste of banned substances" on December 12th.
Pavel Khorkin, head of the TUE department at RUSADA, informed attendees about the publication of the banned list for 2025 on the organization's website in early October. While athletes do not need to memorize the list, sports medicine professionals should familiarize themselves with it. RUSADA has created a convenient service for testing athletes' medications.
Scientific data in the field of anti-doping is regularly updated with new research. Now everyone can access them in the RUSADA's scientific library, which is a recently opened section of their website and will continue to be updated.
