RUSADA does not recommend the use of dietary supplements and warns about the risks associated with them!
We have identified and confirmed the presence of the prohibited substance 1,4-dimethylpentylamine in the OptiMeal "Fury Roger's Bubble Gum" pre-workout complex, which belongs to class S6.B on the Prohibited List. This substance is a stimulant related to special substances and was not declared in the dietary supplement composition.
After receiving an adverse analytical finding, the athlete stated that he had not used any doping substances and suggested that it may have entered his body through contaminated dietary supplements.
An anti-doping laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) conducted a study on open and closed packages of dietary supplements, where a high concentration of the prohibited substance was found - 290 and 310 micrograms per milliliter.
5-methylhexane-2-amine is a substance that is prohibited during competition periods. However, consuming dietary supplements containing high concentrations of this substance before the start of a competition can lead to a positive test result during the competition.
Although this was an unintentional violation of anti-doping regulations, the athlete received a 10-month suspension in accordance with Russian anti-doping rules (clause 12.6.1.2). The use of dietary supplements carries risks, even for experienced users, as there is always a possibility of contamination, falsification, or counterfeiting. If an athlete continues to use dietary supplements despite RUSADA's recommendation against their use, they should follow these precautions:
- Carefully study the composition of dietary supplements and check all the ingredients listed on the website https://list.rusada.ru/.
- Avoid using products with aggressive designs and notice any deviations in packaging quality. It may be helpful to store packages of previously used products to compare them.
- Before using dietary supplements, consult a sports medicine expert for professional advice.
An athlete is always responsible for what enters his or her body!
