On March 29, 2024, during the Interdisciplinary Conference “Scientific and Practical Issues of Sports Medicine” at the Khanty-Mansiysk State Medical Academy, Alexey Repetyuk, the Chief Specialist of the RUSADA TUE Department, made a report.
The topic of the report was a question that is often discussed by fans of cross-country skiing and biathlon: “The therapeutic use of prohibited substances for bronchial asthma. Features of filing a request for a TUE.”
In which sports are athletes most often diagnosed with “sports asthma” and how to obtain permission for the therapeutic use of prohibited substances prescribed for asthma - answers to these questions can be found in the presentation to the report.
Some statistics:
During 2023, RUSADA received 25 TUE requests for the treatment of respiratory diseases;
From January 1 to March 31, 2024, 12 such requests were received;
Fenoterol was the most frequently prohibited substance sought for TUE with such diseases.
