Official RUSADA Statement Regarding the Announcement of the “Enhanced Games” in the USA

2025

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) expresses deep concern over the announcement of the so-called “Enhanced Games” scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, USA, in May 2026. RUSADA fully supports the position of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and shares the view that such initiatives are unacceptable, as they threaten the health of athletes and undermine the principles of fair sport.

The dangerous concept of the “Enhanced Games” seeks to justify the use of performance-enhancing substances prohibited in sport under the pretext of entertainment, ultimately serving marketing interests. Such competitions pose a direct threat to athletes’ health and cause irreparable damage to the reputation of sport. International sporting practice has shown that doping can lead to serious, and sometimes fatal, consequences.

RUSADA emphasizes that participation in such events is incompatible with the principles of clean sport. Athletes who deliberately choose the path of doping endanger not only their health and reputation but also set a dangerous example for youth, undermining the efforts of sports organizations and governments aimed at fostering a healthy generation based on fair competition, discipline, and respect.

We call on all stakeholders — including public authorities in the field of sport, sports federations, sports medicine professionals, athlete support personnel, and athletes themselves — to condemn the organization of such events. It is essential to join forces to prevent the institutionalization of doping under any pretext and to protect the fundamental values of sport.

RUSADA confirms its readiness to cooperate with international partners in coordinating actions related to information support, testing, and legal assessment of the consequences of participation in such projects. True sport is built on strength of character, disciplined effort, and the integrity of competition — and we are committed to defending these ideals by all means.
